Minion Land opens as Resorts World Sentosa’s expansion takes shape
Illumination’s Minion Land opened at Universal Studios Singapore on 14 February 2025. It was the first large attraction delivered under Resorts World Sentosa’s expansion, which its owner Genting Singapore now values at S$6.8 billion.

Minion Land is a themed zone inside Universal Studios Singapore based on the Despicable Me films. Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) announced the opening date in December 2024. Its rides include Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, Silly Swirly and the Buggie Boogie carousel.
The zone is part of a wider expansion agreed with the government in April 2019. At that time, the Ministry of Finance announced that Singapore’s two integrated resorts would together invest S$9 billion in new attractions, and that no other casinos would be licensed before the end of 2030. The RWS commitment included a Minion attraction, Super Nintendo World, a new oceanarium, a waterfront redevelopment and two new hotels.
In November 2023, Genting Singapore raised its planned investment in RWS from S$4.5 billion to S$6.8 billion. The Singapore Oceanarium followed Minion Land in July 2025. In July 2026, Universal Studios Singapore confirmed that Super Nintendo World would be built as part of the Greater Sentosa Master Plan, without giving an opening date. RWS has said its waterfront development is due for completion by 2030.
